Alan G. Nast, CPA, PA
Alan
Nast is an Audit Partner in the Gainesville office of Davis,
Monk & Company and is widely recognized throughout the
State of Florida for his expertise in the areas of accounting
and
auditing; he has been performing audits for over 30 years. As
evidence of his technical ability, Alan currently serves as
an expert witness and investigating officer for the Florida
State Board of Accountancy in cases involving accounting and
auditing. He is one of the three experts used by the State
Board of Accountancy to review governmental audit reports filed
with the Auditor General's Office. He also serves as a technical
reviewer for the Government Finance Officers Association's
Certificate of Achievement Program.
Alan is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the Florida Institute of CPAs, the Government Finance Officers Association, and the Florida Government Finance Officers Association. He is past-president of the North Central Florida Chapter of the FICPA. He is a Rotarian and a member of the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce and serves on the Board of Directors of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Mid Florida. Alan currently serves on the FICPA's State and Local Government Committee. He is a former member of the FICPA's Government Standards Review Committee, the FGFOA's Technical Resources Committee and the AICPA's prestigious Governmental Accounting and Auditing Committee, where he was instrumental in helping to develop the AICPA's Audit and Accounting Guide, Audits of State and Local Governmental Units.
Alan graduated from the University of Florida in 1973. Immediately prior to joining Davis, Monk & Company, he gained seven years of relevant experience with the State of Florida's Office of the Auditor General.
Alan teaches accounting and auditing to other Certified Public Accountants throughout the State of Florida and the United States. Of particular relevance is a course he frequently teaches entitled "Auditing and Reporting on Local Governments in Florida," for which he was twice recognized as an "Outstanding Discussion Leader" by the Florida Institute of CPAs. He also has made numerous presentations related to auditing and accounting issues.
